i just played through this and i loveddd it! it's hard to believe that it's a demo because of how developed the plot and characters feel. i can't wait to learn more about every character and see where everything leads. it leaves so many questions for players, and the art is also so pretty. i love how the text box is styled as well. every little detail just really makes it feel so complete !!
Okay, I'm not the kind of person to actually take the time to write long reviews because most of the visual novels I play are really good and have nothing bad to comment on or point out. But, I'm sorry, this one does. (This review is just my pure opinion, please don't go hating around on people just because you don't like their content! And please don't take this too seriously, and don't dox me, ty ty.) ALSO SPOILERS AHEAD OFC
Honestly, it's the first time playing a visual novel became tense, and I had to take multiple breaks to yell to my friends about my frustrations. So, I'm just confused, deadly confused about this game. The history itself is just a tangled mess that I can barely understand. It's like Adam wants to take revenge on the protagonist, who made him feel something new after having to kiss him just so he didn't kill them? And if you don't kiss him, you immediately die? I honestly didn't like that at all; we started badly. Then, all of the other story of the aunt and the life of the MC feels almost pointless. Why should I care about the lore of the aunt? I know it's technically important because she was connected with Adam in a way (in here I'm not too sure because I ended up skipping towards the end just to finish the demo). And also, another big complaint about the narrative choice of doing multiple POVs. Honestly, I hate that. Like, we didn't need to know exactly what Adam was doing when he was looking for us. I kinda understand it because it's a visual novel where the two main characters are away for so long; there weren't many other ways to kinda implement their different POVs, but it could have been done better. AND THE PART WHEN WE GET THE POV OF THE AUNT?? That felt deadly unnecessary, dude. Like, it could have been just an Adam POV and nothing more. I laughed my ass off in that part because dude, why?
And also, another thing I really didn't like, just small pinpoints. Why is the MC randomly a cosplayer? Why, a usually known character who is supposed to be a self-insert, randomly does cosplay, and why is that detail implemented like that? Usually, when the MC has a unique job or hobby, it's implemented in the story as something more organic that has meaning, but why like that? Just so we could have a horny scene of Adam going nuts for seeing pics of the MC? Another one! In the beginning of the game, we heard a censored version of Twitter, but later in the scene where Adam finds the social media of the MC, we don't get a social media cameo! It felt super uncomfortable and gave the vibe of lazy writing or just inconsistency. And also, when we got the dream that Adam had about the MC, and then about his mom, we didn't get a proper transition into the dream. I realized it was a dream like 5 minutes later just for how out of place it was. It felt so random. Again, this is just my personal opinion! But I can say I really liked the art, and the sprite work is really pretty! I loved the design of Adam, not his personality or way of acting but.. he is really pretty!

In all honesty, the swaps in POV were to build tension within the narrative to show Adam is closing in on the player and that was what I personally feels fitting for the storyline itself. As for the other decisions, I wont explain them away since they tread into spoiler territory. But I appreciate all reviews even if from a negative standpoint and will take this one into careful consideration going forward! 💙 I'm sorry the game was disappointing and confusing for you and I hope you find better games that you connect with in the future. I'm sorry this wasn't one of them.

I didn't expect much, but the plot turned out to be incredibly exciting, exceeding my expectations! I was nervous and feel worried about MC all the time. I really adore them, despite their difficult background, their resilience and bravery, refusing to succumb to fate, are truly captivating.
Since Adam has caught MC, I really want to know what happens next. Would MC become the Eve? (some part of me believe it is a love story, maybe I got Stockholm after being chased like that)But from the personality of MC, I don't think they would forgive Adam? I feel like there will be a day when their positions are reversed.(Yeah I want to see Adam can't help but admit his feelings for MC and get rejected)
And also like Saffron, though he is more psycho than Adam, just be attracted by him♥

After playing this absolute masterpiece of a game, I wonder... What were Adam's intentions? Not as if before wasn't obvious, but in the beginning Adam made it clear he wanted to kill [Player]. Then, After the kiss, I'd assume he is ethier, slightly Embarrassed, Aroused or something awoke? Which was the time I began to get confused. During his successful attempt of finding [Player], he makes it seems he has some sort of interest in them... So, a few small questions; Are his intentions supposed to be revealed later on? If so, don't bother to answer the other two, but maybe I'm misunderstanding? If I am do you mind telling me? (Apologies if that sounds annoying!)
As for the game, it is so unique! I've never played a game like this! I loved the idea of the hitch-hiking killings, Every single character is so well thought out and I've come to realize a few things; In Aunt Ruth's picture, A woman to her far right has a cross around her neck on a necklace, that is Adam's mother I'd assume! I think that was an interesting detail! I wonder who the woman was in Adam's nightmare? Maybe it was his mother? I hope we find out some more lore in Chapter two!
I hope we also get to explore the entire CAKE band more! this game is so well thought out and I cannot wait for the next chapter!

hello. I don't know what is wrong but I can't seem to be able to extract the game. I have tried with multiple apps but nothing is working. If it helps I am downloading the Mac version and the apps I tried were unacvier, unzip, wni rar and the default for Mac. Please I want to play this game.
This is phenomenal. Everything about this game is amazing, from the descriptive and at times quite humorous writing, to the beautiful artwork, this game is one of the best Visual Novels I've seen in a long while, and I'm even more astonished by the fact that not only is this just a single chapter filled with S-tier content, but this is UnknownHermit's first game. I can't even properly convey the praise I have for this game and it's developer, it's just that marvellous. Not only is the artwork and writing fantastic, but the characters are too. Adam ticks all the boxes for me. Feels good to finally have my silly, gay, masochistic little fantasies indulged in. I am so excited for chapter two and to see how the other characters fare. I wish I could support Hermit on patreon, cause goddamn, for your first game, you totally deserve all the support you can get.
11/10 game. Would lust for Adam again.

Dev here! Chapter 2 is still a work in progress since its one of the most pivotal plot points and I'm working on perfecting it. A good portion of the written script is getting closer to being finished so I hope to release it soon. I have one other game which is called Close to Obsession you can check out! Though it's going to go through a rewrite (it was made for a game jam) so the initial game might end up being ret-conned.

You are a MASTER story creator. From the beginning, I was hooked. The plot unfolded so gradually and as more was revealed, I really could not shut my computer off. I actually never even use this account, but I had to log in to leave this comment. The characters are phenomenally well crafted and original, too. This is very riveting, you have a talent for sure. I shared this game with some friends a while ago. They all love it and I do too! The one thing we have in common tho is that we all detest Adam. It's honestly funny how we all agree that we hate him. I streamed my playthrough of the game on a Discord server we all share. When I finally got away from him in the prologue , I said "There should be an option to hit him with your car" and everyone in chat said they had the same idea. I really hope there's an ending were we can just get him out of our life and go home. Or move to another country and start a new life... Or kill him. Lets not remove that as an option
